I am a concept-driven artist working mainly with textile materials. My work encompasses constructed textiles, utilising a variety of textile techniques as well as sculpture/3D approaches.
I have a science background (I completed a B.Sc (Hons) Nutrition with Biology) but I have also had a lifelong passion for creative activities. These range from drawing, painting and printing, to various textile techniques, creating mosaics, papier mache objects, cardboard furniture, etc. This led me to completing the City Lit (London) Foundation in Art and Design. I specialised in textiles and found in it a wonderful world of possibilities through the use of varied techniques and materials. Following this I graduated in 2022 from Chelsea College of Arts (University of the Arts London) with a Graduate Diploma in Textile Design. Nature and organic forms as well as environmental concerns (including recycling/upcycling and repurposing materials) are the themes which run through my work. My approach to my work varies. It can spring from words contained within books, poetry, lyrics, newpapers and magazines, interviews, films or plays. Alternatively a material may evoke ideas. |
